Summary of the Nscl Control System

100base-T Ethernet is used to connect the major control system components (VME crates, PLCs and operator workstations) with each other. VME crates and PLCs are connected to a pair of 24-port Ethernet switches, which will become part of an isolated Ethernet segment once an upcoming network upgrade is completed. Primary operator workstations will also be connected to this segment, and routers installed such that only legitimate lab workstations have any access to the isolated nodes.
